What Roland DG can offer for education

Since 1986, with the introduction of the PNC-3000 milling machine, the world’s first desktop CNC, Roland DG’s products have been utilised in an Education setting to great effect.

From vinyl cutting systems which have proved to be a fast and efficient way of teaching students the concept of CAD/CAM, to powerful 3D milling machines and wide format printer/cutters; today Roland DG has a comprehensive range of design & technology products to suit any level of education, from primary right through to university level.

Roland DG’s vinyl cutters and printers can also be used for directional and promotional graphics; for in-house use either as a profit centre to provide print services to students, or for information/directional signage and events collateral.

Ease of Operation and Integration

It’s easy to incorporate Roland DG technology into your curriculum as our devices integrate with software widely used in schools, colleges and universities. All Roland DG machines come with intuitive, easy to use software to simplify the production process and allow for easy, quick learning.

Roland DG devices include safety features which make them ideal for use in a classroom environment. For example the EGX-350 and Modela MDX-40A have integrated safety covers making them safe for classroom use. Power to the motors is automatically switched off when the cover is opened. Our vinyl cutters and print and cut systems are also equipped with safety screens to prevent injury and teach safe usage.

Technology for all Environments

CutStudio for vinyl cutters

Design and create professional contour cut vinyl graphics for a wide range of applications, including signs, garment decoration, display graphics, backlit displays, labels, packaging mock-ups, greeting cards and much more.

VersaWorks 6

Powerful and simple to use RIP software to ensure quick, flexible and accurately colour matched output.

SRP Player for Milling Machines

Roland DG’s easy-to-use SRP Player CAM software helps to automate the rapid prototyping process by generating precision tool paths at high speed. SRP Player software is a wizard-based program for 4-axis milling, uniform 3D scaling as well as the simulation of finished 3D products, helping users to review simulated prototypes and models on a monitor and then direct it to the chosen milling machine for prototype production and finishing.

EngraveStudio for the EGX-350.

EnrgaveStudio utilises a friendly graphical interface and creates realistic previews of the engraving file to validate the design and gain customer approval. For more advanced users, you have V-carving capability to mimic hand carved results and various batch production options.
