Virtually anything is possible using a Roland DG machine

Innovation is a word that can be overused, but at this year's Sign & Digital UK there was true excitement amongst signage professionals for an innovative new business formed by digital print veteran Andrew Ainge. Shimmerdisc is a truly ground-breaking business which applies the pioneering method of using thousands of light-reflecting discs to create inspiring and striking moving image displays.

The Leeds based company specializes in the production of sequinned displays that use thousands of light-reflecting discs to produce photographic quality graphics which appear to move as the light catches them. Each disc is individually printed on a UV flatbed digital printer, such as the newly launched Roland DG VersaUV LEJ-640FT, to create pixel perfect images with a unique twist. Every module is reverse printed and optically clear to provide an animated display that offers a very convincing 3D effect.
