Six Roland DG machines turn US Press into one-stop print shop

A combination of direct-to-substrate printing, tactile print finishes and a huge variety of compatible materials has helped American print business US Press deliver more than ever to its customers.

After decades in the commercial print industry, US Press founders Kent and Dawn Buescher decided to shift from 100 per cent offset to almost 60 per cent digital, choosing four Roland DG SOLJET PRO 4 XF-640 printers and two Roland DG VersaUV LEF-300 benchtop UV flatbed printers.

The addition of these systems means Valdosta, GA-based US Press now offers new services such as posters, banners, signs and window displays, alongside its commercial printing work like full-color brochures, catalogs and flyers.

"Our Roland DG printers run all day long – they are the backbone of our production," says Buescher. "We market these products to our customer base and it brings in additional business."

But the Bueschers haven't stopped there. The Roland DG VersaUV LEF-300 printers can print directly onto flat and 3D promotional products – a service launched in response to client demand. Pens, smartphone cases, keyrings, umbrellas, tote bags, hats, water bottles and mugs are all easily customized.

Even prototypes and print runs of more unusual promo products such as golf balls, drinks coasters and biscuit tins are all provided to US Press's specialty manufacturer clients.

These are tactile items – a perfect match for Roland DG ECO-UV ink, which can produce simulated embossing and 3D textures along with white and gloss inks.

"Our clients love the results," comments Buescher. "The gloss ink really makes the printing pop."

The Georgia company now offers marketing solutions for more than 25,000 businesses, from start-ups to top national brands, all looking for something special.
